Meet the Team!

Michael has over 20 years of experience in the Events business, starting as a sub contractor to other Event organisations and then as a Director organising his own Motor based Shows.
Both Michael’s sons are involved in the Festival. Ben fulfilling the event’s graphic design requirements and Jeremy through his Company TEAM 777 as the Events Groundworks Contractor. Michael competes in both Hillclimb and Sprint events in his Ford Anglia. He says: “I organised my first car show in 1976... before my day job of building my Company took over, but being involved in the Construction Industry we again started to be involved in various events which led us to become an Organiser of our own events.
I’m very pleased to be part of this team bringing the great new Motor Sport Festival to Yorkshire!”

Max is a former PLC director with experience in dealing with Local & National Government departments, particularly on planning and environmental matters, and currently runs an Energy & Minerals Consultancy.
Max has been a motor sport aficionado from childhood and
has previously competed in rallies and sprints, with a strong current interest in classic sports cars and related events. He says: “The North is desperately short of quality motor sport events and our Festival will begin to rectify this – we’re really excited about the event and working flat out to make it a great success and for it to become a regular fixture in fellow enthusiasts diaries.”

Simon spent twenty years working on motoring publications before co-founding PR company Chicane, with Gary (Barak). His work has included being press officer for the British Powerboat GP, Nissan’s World Rally Team, the Group C Racing Association and Gulf Oil.
His competition career encompasses historic rallying, Citroen 2CVs and endurance lawn mower racing...
Simon is a Hillclimb “brat”, growing up with a dad who hillclimbed in the 1960s & 70s
and, with a Mum from Leeds, the Yorkshire Motorsport Festival and Wolfstones Hillclimb mean Simon is very much returning to his roots.

With a background that includes motorsport, publishing, PR & marketing, Gary has been in the automotive industry for most of his working life. He set up Chicane with Simon his business partner in 1999 and in 2011 he was awarded the prestigious title of Automotive Aftermarket Person of the Year.
Gary worked at Haymarket for 10 years and during that time worked across several titles including Autosport and Classic & Sportscar, so the Yorkshire Motorsport Festival is very much a route for him to come ‘home’.
He has competed in motorsport at several different levels and at one point owned a Tojeiro Cobra, which he wishes he still had.
As a Geordie, Gary is very excited about being part of the YMF and giving the north a truly spectacular event for years to come.

Elzanne began her career in marketing in the Middle East where she was responsible for the brand management of high-end luxury car brands.
She moved into the fuel lubricants sector where she supported global events, lead promotional campaigns and design initiatives for the Manchester United sponsorship.

Since 2018 she has been a full-time consultant supporting both start-ups and corporates. Elzanne recently became a godparent and loves spending precious hours with family and so helping to promote this family event is a prospect she is relishing.

Quentin Willson is a broadcaster, journalist and seriously successful campaigner for consumer rights.
Part of the original Top Gear team, Quentin has since starred in his
own shows, which include The Car’s the Star, The Classic Car Show and Britain’s Worst Driver.
His work campaigning on behalf of the motorist has saved us £Billions by bringing UK car prices in line with the rest of Europe and with the Fair Fuel campaign saving the UK economy £100 billion in fuel duty and VAT costs.
Quentin is a staunch advocate of better driving standards and low emission vehicles. Having the former Motoring Writer of the Year as part of our team is a real coup for the Yorkshire Motorsport Festival.

Karun Chandok is one of only two Indian drivers to race in Formula 1 and the first to compete at the iconic Le Mans 24 Hours.
In 2014-2015 he combined World Sportscars with the new Formula
E series, but nowadays his racing experience is well utilised as a broadcaster and journalist. Channel 4 and Sky F1 viewers will instantly recognise him as a key part of the commentary team.
Karun is still active as a driver – working with Williams F1 to expand their Heritage business.
He also works with motorsport’s governing body, the FIA, on several representative bodies.
Yorkshire Motorsport Festival is delighted to have Karun on board. He brings with him a wealth of driving experience and a large, enthusiastic social media following.

Roger, a local businessman from Saddleworth grew up with tractors, and once he had learned to drive one he was hooked and he is the proud owner of a couple of vintage David Brown machines.

“I am thrilled be involved with what promises to be a spectacular Festival and a first for Yorkshire. I’m also the Show Secretary at the David Brown Tractor Club, co founder of Saddleworth Tractor Group and your contact here at the Yorkshire Motorsport Festival for anything tractor...
