We are excited to welcome all the way from Jersey, Barry Moignard and his daughter Jodie, in their shared Special Saloon Skoda 130RS ...
This is one of the iconic space framed Skoda’s built originally by Derek Walker also known as Mr Oulton Park.
Derek was a Market Gardener from Timperley in Cheshire, and a excellent race driver, the Skoda replaced his Escort MK11, which he had campaigned very successfully.
Derek built the Skoda in his workshop at his nursery in 1978 modifying it year on year in preparation for a full assault on the Motoring News Donington GT Championship, which he won outright in 1980.
Raced very successfully by Derek, winning many races and battling very hard with the likes of Tony Dickinson, Tony Surgen, Malcolm Jonstone all in “Skoda’s” back in the 80’s this car survives due to it being a purpose built Skoda clone and not a sports car based fibre glass shell bolt on.
Sold to Tom Powell in 1982, Tom an ex Maguire Mini man raced it in the Wendy Wools series.
Tom then sold it to John Flack in 1984 and Harry Simpson bought it in 1986. Harry using it only for hill climbing.
Barry has owned it since 1990, and has painstaking rebuilt it.
It now has a John Eales 3.9 Rover V8 with a Hewland FT200 gearbox.
It is potentially a FTD car.
Beautifully presented and prepared by Barry it will be interesting to see if he can catch the very rapid Jodie.
Make sure to have them sign the Autograph page in the sovereign program.
