At its recent launch, the Yorkshire Motorsport Festival organisers announced details of their intention to celebrate 100 years of Speed Hillclimbing in the Holmfirth area.
As well as their plans for a major theme display of significant hillclimb cars through the years and the scheduled official opening of the event with display runs from some of the cars involved, the Festival organisers are now pleased to unveil the specially-designed logo that will help mark the occasion.
“This logo encapsulates something unique. As a long-time hillcllimb competitor, it is an anniversary whose significance I am very conscious of, both from a local and from a wider motorsporting perspective, and it was designed in consultation with Kirklees Council who are strongly committed supporters of both the anniversary and the Festival as a whole,” explains Michael McErlain, Joint MD of the Yorkshire Motorsport Festival. “With the Wolfstones Hillclimb, which is the centrepiece of the Festival, we are delighted to be keeping this now century-old tradition of closed-road speed hillclimbs alive in the region, and we are proud to be able to use the Festival as a focal point for both marking and celebrating the centenary.”
The logo will, henceforth be used on Festival communications alongside the main Festival logo and will be very much in evidence at the event itself.
There are also plans, currently at the design stage, for a short range of commemorative merchandise, which will help further contribute to the Festival’s charity – Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
In the meanwhile, prospective entries continue to come in for the Wolfstones Speed Hillclimb - which forms part of the Jaguar Drivers Club Four Hills Championship and which is now open to pre ’86 two-seater cars, to accommodate being a Club Alpine Renault and German Touring Car Club 2020 competition event.
